Day 5 of Doki Doki Days: Best Romance Anime from 2025

Hello and welcome back to Doki Doki Days! We’re nearly to the end of Doki Doki Days but we still have some fun posts. Today, I thought I’d give you a simple list of some of our favorite shoujo from 2025. We didn’t watch a lot of them (at least in full), but here are some of them we did watch all the way through, and also found ourselves liking more than other shoujo we’ve seen. Though admittedly, this was a kind of sad year for the genre of romance in our opinion, here were a few gems.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity

It should be no surprise that this is here, what with how much we’ve talked about it so far this Doki Doki Days. By far, this tops the list. If you want my full review of the show and why I liked it so much, I encourage you to read my post for day three. But all to say, this couple is one of the best I saw all year. 10/10.

Honey Lemon Soda

Somewhat forgettable but still notable. The romance was cute, the characters likeable, and more than anything else–we got some good character growth thanks to the main love interest. I would really like to see this story continue with a second season. Overall, like a good 6.5/10.

May I ask for one final thing?

Truly outstanding. We love to see a strong woman punching the crap out of most things and people. While this seemed to serve as a comedy action for the whole show, it really was a romance at its heart. It was essentially a whole scheme to fall in love. And, spoiler alert, it totally worked. 7/10

Call of the Night Season 2

A great sequel season to the first. I feel like this one definitely explored the idea of love even more than the last. Love between friends, between lovers, what exactly does love mean and how do you convey it? I feel like Call of the Night season 2 had so many great things in it. 9/10

With You, Our Love will Make it Through

You cannot possibly miss the meaning of this anime. It’s biggest strength as well as it’s biggest weakness was that there was nothing subtle about this show. While certainly not for everyone, this show was pretty decent. It was very clearly about romance between different races in an otherwise racist society. Just–in anime form. 6.5/10

Those are some of our favorite romances from 2025 anime! What were some of yours? Let us know in the comments. After all, romance isn’t our usually preferred genre, so we’re always looking for recommendations.
