On the fourth day of Weebsmas, Luna & Star gift to thee–slice of life anime recommendations. Yes, I know that didn’t rhyme. ANYWAY, welcome back to Weebsmas. I hope you enjoyed our family-friendly anime recommendations yesterday, today we have something in vein with it (as well as with drama). Today is a day for lazing around and enjoying life with slice-of-life anime recommendations. These are great for winter days when you’re stuck inside and all you want is to cuddle up with a cup of hot chocolate, a blanket, and some easy watching.

This is a sweet and comforting anime about a Polar bear who runs a cafe. He interacts with his friends who are animals and humans alike. But it shows a simple and personal experience of owning a cafe and hanging out with friends. It’s a beautiful, cup of tea anime that brings joy to everyday life.

I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this anime but the longer I watched it the more I related to it. As a working person, there’s many times where you feel you have to be someone else at work than you are at home. Not that he hates his job, but that he can have other interests that help him relax and detatch from his work. The additional story lines covered the lives of the heroes (his direct opponents) and his interactions with them outside of work as the villain.

One of the only isekai that I thoroughly enjoy. This anime is a pure slice of life about a guy who opens up a convenience store in another world. It’s literally just a really slow anime about the life of this guy, his employees (cute girls), and the store and it’s new products. Its a little funny, really cute, and certainly a good slice of fantastical life. Just an ordinary guy running an ordinary store in a magical world.

So, this adaptation is a little late when it comes the franchise that is the Bartender story. But our first run-in of this anime was actually a live-action rendition of the manga. It’s starring a talented bartender who’s social emotional skills help him craft the perfect drink for those seeking a place to relax in the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. The anime goes a little deeper into the backstory of the Bartender and his own personal journey to become the legend he is presently in the story. It’s a sweet, heartwarming point of view at the emotional labor that people in the service industry experience in their day to day shifts and the communities they make with the customers they serve.

Admittedly, this slice-of-life isn’t for everyone, but I find it super sweet. This is about a guy returning home after running away to Tokyo 10 years prior. The catch? His family own a wagashi shop and they have taken in a ten year old girl who loves Wagashi. The main character’s mother pits the two against each other for who will take over the shop, but this slice-of-life doesn’t do a good job of showing that rivalry. Instead what grows is a very father-daughter, big brother/sister-like relationship between the two and a love of the crafting of wagashi.
This is our list of our top five slice-of-life anime recommendations! While all these slice-of-anime are very different, they are all very good in their own right. Whether your flavor is cooking, fantasy, supervillains, or everyday work life, there’s a slice-of-life out there for you. I hope that you all enjoyed this recommendation and we’ll see you all tomorrow for day five of Weebsmas!
