Hello, hello, and can you believe we are already a week into 13 Days of Otakutober? I sure can’t! I am lowkey amazed we have made it this far between these spooky posts, playing copious amounts of 7’scarlet (for this post), planning for actual IRL Halloween, and prepping cosplay for our upcoming anime convention. It. Has. Been. A. MONTH. But, today we’re going to be doing something a little fun (or at least in my opinion). Whereas yesterday we talked about our favorite demon slayers, today we are talking about our favorite anime devil’s–not to be confused with demons. Without further ado, here are some of my personal faves.
Chrono (Chrono Crusade)
So ironically, there is great debate on whether or not Chrono is technically a demon or a devil. We mentioned him briefly in our demon contracts post…but after some thought, I think that he could be a devil. To be entirely honest, depending on the source–he is either referred to as a demon or a devil. So, since we didn’t mention him in our post for last year’s for best demons, it’s only fair he’s mentioned here. He’s honestly such a goood character. In his full-on sinner form, he has a beautiful character design. But in his weakened more child-like form, he’s adorable and kind of book nerdish. Love that contrast.
Satan (The Devil is a Part-Timer)
The OG. Just kidding. No, he’s just one of the actual 100% devil characters in anime. After all, he’s the king of hell. Yes, Satan is one of the best devil’s in all of anime. Mainly because in this iteration he is so hilarious. Like honestly he’s ridiculous. He goes to the mortal realm and decides to take over the world by working at McRonald’s.
Baby Beel (Beelzebub)
So I know people call him a demon but as a descendant of Beelzebub (who is the prince of devil’s), he’s a friggin’ DEVIL. Also the gosh darn cutest on this entire list. I love how he’s attracted/impressed to all that is evil and his admiration for those that are stronger than him. As a baby, he has a huge personality. But y’know, you gotta care for him right or else he can use his powers against you. Because even as a baby he does have powers–like lightning. He’s definitely a handful of a devil but ain’t he just the cutest?
Rias Gremory (High School DxD)
How can we talk about devils without Rias? Gorgeous, sweet, only somewhat terrifying. She is a queen through and through. Her power of destruction is impressive, and let’s be real–if she wanted to, she could take out every other devil on this list. I particularly really love Rias because we’re the same zodiac sign (Aries ftw), so sometimes I can see similarities in how we act. Of course, I’m not a pure blooded devil, so y’know–she’s better.
Well everyone, there you have it! My incredibly brief list of my favorite devil characters. I’m still lowkey asking myself: what makes a devil and what makes a demon? Maybe I do have to tackle that in a future post. Anyway, what are some of your favorite devil characters? And what constitutes them as devil’s to you? Let me know.
