Top 5 Anime Endings of Summer 2021

Hello and welcome back to Otaku Thursday!! Thanks everyone for wishing Star a happy birthday on Saturday! You truly made her day. We were away for her bday, in the mythical land of Los Angeles, but now we’re back and I’ve got some nice Otaku content for us all! But y’know..I’m not going to lie to you all–I’m kinda burnt out from our trip, so I’m going to be extremely lazy today and we’re going to be naming the top 5 anime endings of the season! Definitely because I want to and not because it’s the easiest thing to do that requires no brain power. Definitely. Let’s get started!

top 5 anime endings of summer 2021

Peach Boy Riverside ED

5) “Yoru wo Koeru Ashioto” by Mitei no Hanashi, Peach Boy Riverside

So. Star and I have still not watched this show but I think we absolutely have to because it has the best music. Like honestly, when we were listening to openings, this one cracked our top five even though we didn’t know anything about the show. Not only that, but it also made us interested in watching it. Knowing that the ending is also a bop? Now we REALLY want to watch this show. With such stand out OP/ED it has to be good…right?

Bokutachi no Remake ED

4) “Kanousei” by Argonavis, Boku-tachi no Remake

This song pops into my head at the most random times. And it’s funny because it’s good but also so generic that it actually takes me a while to figure out what the ending song is to. But I always get there because as I hum it, those final notes really remind me of the two boys sleeping under the kotatsu and I’m like–ahh Remake. Anyway, cute imagery–lots of the girls being girls, not much other meaning to it, but a great song. It also just weirdly makes you feel good.

Shiroi Suna no Aquatope ED

3) “Tsuki Umi no Yurikago” by Mia REGINA, Shiroi Suna no Aquatope

Love this song. So, first off, I’m floored by the music for this show, but the ending itself is just so pretty. Mia REGINA absolutely nailed this performance. Her voice is so smooth and clear, and the visuals of the two reaching for each other in a still image is hauntingly beautiful. I also really like how they are drifting in the water–and in a way the song almost invokes that feeling perfectly. It’s an almost transcendent experience.

2) “Dream on” by Mamoru Miyano, Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan

Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan ED

This. Song. Is. LIT. Like, Star and I constantly have this stuck in our heads and every time it comes on we are ready and vibing to it. In reality, is this song depressing? Oh most likely. But in practice it’s a fun thing to sing and dance to. The visuals are just stills of the characters chilling. It’s definitely slightly depressing (and increasingly relatable) but also nice to look at and also nice to listen to. Honestly, part of me wanted to give this number one out of the simple fact I had it stuck in my head all day before writing this post, but no–it will remain at number two.

1) “0 (Zero)” by LMYK, Vanitas no Carte

Vanitas no Carte ED

–Because number one is none other than 0 by LMYK! Once again, I deferred to Star for this list and casually asked her what her favorite ending of the season was. I always feel like when it comes to shows like Vanitas, where I really like them and have a lot of history loving the manga, I can’t be completely unbiased while choosing. However, Star’s experience with all the anime we are watching is from an unbiased perspective, hence–I trusted her for naming Vanitas her fave ED from summer 2021. The song is beautiful–I love it being sung in English and Japanese. The lyrics…required me to analyze because I’m crazy like that, and the visuals are actually really nice too–the dark background, the characters in frames–and then the hands reaching for each other, Noe being the one approaching Vanitas and seeming to dive towards him to grab him. It’s very meaningful to the show and well–it’s just really good in my opinion. I especially like the framed characters as it’s a reference to the manga volume covers.

Stay weebtastic

xoxo
