April Fufufu’s Day!– Five Comedy Anime

Hello and welcome back to Otaku Thursday! Today I’m coming at you with our latest special–April Fufufu’s day! But Luna–you ask: What is April Fufufu’s day (and why does it sound so sinister). Well, Fufufu’s day is simply about all things funny! While we aren’t going to be going with humorous content every day, we’ll be highlighting aspects of comedy in anime throughout our monthly lineup. Which means today, on the day that is the one and only April Fufufu’s day, we’re going to be talking about five comedy anime to split your sides in laughter.

5) Sakamato Desu Ga?

Sakamoto Desu Ga?

Starting off we got one of my favorite (and in my opinion, criminally underrated) comedies. Sakamoto Desu Ga? Is only hilarious for defying expectations. Even though Sakamato is described as the coolest dude, when I started this anime I thought, eh he’s probably gonna be like OKAY at the best and that it would try too hard to make him look cool. I was both right and wrong, in fact–Sakamoto is effortlessly cool. Like the stupid lengths other dudes go to, to make him look uncool are just so stupid, and he always looks ‘cool’ in the weirdest fucking ways. But also like impressive. Honestly his casual attitude is what makes him so cool and also what makes this SO hilarious. Like this bitch is just used to these ridiculous scenarios happening around him so he just glides through them.

4) Amagi Brilliant Park

I only recently watched this and I don’t know why I hadn’t seen it earlier. It’s hilarious. Mascot creature things working at a park that’s going under. A high school kid acting as manager to bring the park back to its glory days so it doesn’t close. A high school girl who pulls a sniper rifle from her skirt. This is absolute absurdity in the best way and SO funny. And the mascots are so friggin adorable. Like I LOVE the crocodile thingy. He’s SO cute.

3) Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi

So admittedly, I have never actually watched this all the way through but I have seen like 2/3rds of it. When I said Amagi was absurd, it is NOTHING compared to the complete chaos of Abenobashi. This show is like so crazy for pretty much all of it. Honestly this is one of those shows I laughed at and enjoyed because it was completely random. However, Star tells me it gets real deep in the episodes that I haven’t seen yet, so I’ll have to finish it one day to see why this laughfest mellows out (and how it becomes real deep). Traveling through alternate worlds never looked so fun.

2) Grand Blue

I have said a lot about Grand Blue on this blog, and that is because to this day I FUCKING love it. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen–but not because it’s absurd or random. Because it’s so stupid I can’t actually hate it. Like its so stupid I thought it’d be so annoying because I hate anime like it…but instead it makes me laugh at how incredibly idiotic the characters are at the weirdest times. Like they try so hard to be normal and then are ridiculous. Also…the vodka scene will get me to this day.

Hetalia World Stars

1 ) Hetalia World Stars

A true classic. We were all around in Hetalia’s prime days right? A great anime that both taught us some real history and useless fact, and was the OG crack energy show. Consisting of five minute or less episodes, this was peak 2010s humor. Always random, always funny, arguably better in English Dub. And you know what? They bringing it back. That’s right, today Hetalia comes back as Hetalia World Stars and it’ll be on Funimation. After being gone for so long, this chaos crack-candy dream of a show is coming back. I for one? Will most likely be tuning in for some laughs.

Well that’s all for now! I hope you all have a good (and relatively harmless) April Fufufu’s day! Until next time~

Stay weebtastic,

xoxo
