Day 9 of Otakutober: Witches and Wizards of Weeberly Place

Hey everybody! I’ve been gifted with the magical task of talking about some some of my favorite academies for the mystically talented. I’ll be giving some quick summaries on these animes from different genres. Here we go~

Fantasy

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

A cute but surprisingly deceiving plot that leaves you laughing and crying. There’s some names you might recognize like Aladdin, Jafar, Alibaba and Sinbad traveling together, battling other magical entities like Jinns getting tied into politics and wars of Kings.

This became super apparent in the second season when our main character is enrolled in a school and meets other alike magic users. Plot wise it was the best.

Issekai

Zero no Tsukaima

This is your average Issekai story except the japanese teenage boy from the modern world ends up being summoned by a mage to become a Familiar who’s job is to protect and serve their masters.

It’s a harem but it’s also cute and funny. And only slightly ecchi.

Classic

Negima

The harem of all harems. Negima is a 10-year old aspiring to be a master wizard but instead becomes a professor tasked to teaching english to a class full of magic using female students.

There is a very long series here. Made by the same creator of Love Hina.

Candy Pop Horror

Tweeny Witches

Stars three young witches in a coming of age like story as they grow stronger and get mixed up in a plot to save their world. (Any more and I risk spoiling.)

There is a lot of episodes but the artstyle in particular is very original, edgy and dark.

Slice of Life

Flying Witch

A slice of life modern witch story about a family of witches living in the outskirts in Japan. We follow a young teenage witch who’s just trying to go to have a normal non-magical academic experience. They live peaceful lives and have mundane problems like any other family.

It’s a walk in the park on a sunny day. (Good eye-bleach if you’re looking for it.)

As I conclude this post, I would like to say that I have two witchy anime on my watchlist… Little Witch Academia and Burn the witch which I’ll probably enjoy with the company of my little sister.
