Top 5 Anime Endings: Spring 2019

Alright so we’ve already gone over the best anime openings of Spring 2019, so now it’s time to look towards the endings! It’s time for my top five picks for the best anime endings of 2019. So without too much rambling, let’s go ahead and get started!

Top 5 Spring Endings (1)

Honorable Mention: “Chizu ga Nakutemo Modoru Kara” by Makoto Furukawa, One Punch Man season 2

A refreshing take on One Punch Man, this ending slows down the hype and instead produces a more sincere and calming song. I truly appreciate this, and while some may argue that this ending isn’t befitting One Punch, I disagree. I think it’s perfect. Between being actually performed by Saitama’s voice actor (and damn does that man have a voice on him) and the rather chill but colorful visuals that accompany it, Chizu ga Nakutemo Modoru Kara is one of my fave this season.

5) “Hana ga Saku Michi” by THE CHARM PARK – Black Clover ending 7

I will be totally honest. I am not a big fan of the visuals in this ending. But you know what I do love? This song. THE CHARM PARK really is charming and this song is so nice to me. It has this feel-good aura to it, and it’s just so damn catchy. I have been constantly humming this at work and it takes my stress away. Plus the guitar solo at the end of it is pretty damn good.

4) “Kimi no Todoku made” by Little Glee Monster, Mix: Meisei Story

This is an ending that starts in the most amazing way: A DOG. Okay just kidding. This ending has a lot of simple visuals, something it seems like a lot of the really good songs have this season. But this ending is so damn cute, documenting the main characters as kids (and representing the dog). This song also has a pretty interesting composition in my opinion with a nice melody. Definitely a song to remember.

3) “Lucky Ending” by Vickeblanka, Fruits Basket

GOD THIS SONG. I absolutely love this song through and through. It is so lullaby-like but also got like a nice soulful-“Earth angel-like” vibe. The vocals are strong and full, and you can really feel the heart in it. The visuals are mostly still images that pan up on each zodiac member asleep which really shows off the new art style of the reboot. There is a cute moment in the middle there that shows their animal forms interacting as per their attitudes towards each other (the mouse running from the snake, the boar barreling into the cat), as well as a moment that shows Yuki as having been watching the zodiac children from afar. There’s also a nice hat drop which I can’t wait for the anime to explain more on.

2) “Stand by Me” by The Peggies, Sarazanmai

STAND BY ME, ONEGAI. This is actually my vote for the catchiest song of the season. I will start singing this at random, realize I’m singing it, and then reprimand myself for bursting into spontaneous song. I’d never heard of The Peggies before listening to this but I very much enjoy them now. Plus the visuals of this ending are so cool and stylized. The carefully drawn characters against realistic backgrounds with these light effects create a very surreal mood which I think fits the show pretty damn perfectly.

1) “Yamiyo” by Eve, Dororo ending 2

So, this song is good. It’s really good. But it’s not as catchy as some of the other songs on this list. However, it has a very unique sound and it, moreso than any other ending this season, has accompanying visuals that not only pair perfectly but also tell a story. If you watch the video linked above, you’ll see that there are multiple versions of this ending. At episode 13, this visual is blurred and hard to see, but the colors are absolutely gorgeous. As the show continues it’s run, the visuals get clearer and clearer over time until we get almost complete clarity. This is such a smart choice for the opening, making an ending that leaves the viewer blind before slowly developing the gift of sight as we near the end of the show. There can be a number of reasons for this decision, all of which I’m sure are quite deep, and I love it. This is hands down the best, most interesting ending theme of the season.

So those were my top five picks for best anime ending of the 2019 spring season! Do you agree, disagree? What were yours? Let us know in the comments below!

Until next time!

xoxo
