Halloweeb night harolds the end of our annual 13 Days of Otakutober. The last 12 days, we’ve been bringing you spooky anime and otaku content to celebrate in the spirit of weeb. Which is why today, the 13th day and the culmination of Otakutober, we decided to bring back one of our best least favorite, favorite worst post; Everybody, welcome back to Trigger Town part 6: A Nightmare on Weeb Street. This is the post where we revisit some of the most triggering moments in anime we’ve witnessed. So consider this your warning: spoilers await. Proceed with caution.

Oshi no Ko season 3 wasn’t as triggering as past seasons. However, there is one moment that stood out for Star and that was when we learned that Ruby’s mother–well, her past life’s mother–the one who left her sick in a hospital by herself–that mother was a producer in the industry. And was revealed to Ruby herself. That moment was pretty fucked up.

Frieren always has dramatic moments. But in the second season there was one dramatic moment that stood out: Stark’s friggin’ backstory. During an attack on the village, lil Stark was told by his older brother to runaway and save himself–aka LITERALLY leaving him to die.

You know when I watch a show about witches, I expect it to be mostly cute. Witch Hat Atelier was a super cute show. And then they introduced Euini–a shy witch apprentice. We meet him for only a few episodes. We learn to love him and his nervous energy, we see him think outside the box and believe in his ability. Then he gets fucking turned into a monster wolf by the rogue witches. AND THE SEASON ENDS WITH HIM STILL AS THAT WOLF RUNNING AWAY. I cannot tell you how my jaw hit the floor when he was suddenly turned into a wolf and then wasn’t turned back. Shooketh.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm was a great show. But there was one part of it I couldn’t stand. The Long Arm and Long Leg demons. I can’t even remember this fight very well because there was something so inherently disturbing about them. They creep me out so bad.

The second to last moment that was deeply traumatizing happened in a show you would never guess: Spy x Family. And the scene? Loid’s backstory. The explosion. No further notations.

Saving the best for last is the anime: Agents of the Four Seasons. I was going to just pick out one scene from the anime, but then I realized that there are a lot of triggering scenes. There’s THE scene when Spring was kidnapped, there was Spring’s backstory on how she eventually escaped, there’s the twins of Summer backstory and later battle, when Winter almost died or tried to get them to take him, when Autumn was kidnapped…okay yeah there’s a lot of triggering things in here. Great anime though. 10/10 would recommend.
I’m sure there are way more triggering moments that we witnessed this last year but I can’t think of them at all. Maybe because I threw them into the vault. Honestly, some of these I had to re-trigger myself into remembering which was horrible. But let us know if there are any other triggering moments you witnessed in anime we missed. There’s always next year for another visit to Trigger Town. But for now, thanks for sticking around for our 13 Days of Otakutober!
