It’s a wonderful weeby New Year! Here at You Can’t Know, we like to look at past, present, and future. We’d hit you with recommendations from the past and the present during Weebsmas, but as we enter into the New Year, we thought we’d write a wishlist of things we’d love to see this year from the realm of anime. Without further ado, here are some things we’re truly wishing for this next year.
Even more Mature/Unique Shoujo Anime
Shoujo anime has been making a comeback with more and better shoujo than ever before. I love that we’ve also been getting mature and more unique premises for shoujo. In the next year, I’d really love to see more of that.
Return of musical anime
I will admit, I feel like when it comes to musical anime, we’ve been in a bit of a dry spell. Nothing recently has been all that spectacular when it comes to this genre, which is sad because I had really been enjoying the variety of it coming out. So I have high hopes that it’ll change in 2025.
Any Season 2 from the list of “will it have a season 2” to ACTUALLY exist
This really just means that there is a lot of anime that need or deserve a season two. We would like any of these anime, LITERALLY any of these anime to get their well-deserved season two in the next year. Right now, SK8 is probably the most likely to get there as a project is scheduled to release next year.
To find out what happened to Lavi (IT’S GONNA HAPPEN THIS YEAR GUYS)
I know I say this every year, but based on the most recent chapter, this is gonna happen you guys. I have high hopes that this WILL be the year that I find out what happened to present-day Lavi and if he’s alive or not. Personally, I would like to believe he IS alive.
More K-pop collabs for openings/endings (or an anime on K-pop)
This is one Star so wisely put. There have been some really good K-pop collabs for openings and endings. Felix and Lisa, Stray Kids, TxT, and so much more. It’d be great to see more K-pop groups make some endings/openings for anime. It could also be really cool to see an anime ABOUT K-pop.
